Holiday symbols in public
I don't really feel that having certian holiday symbols in public is a big deal. Being a Christian I do not feel offended when I see a Jewish symbol like a star. It's peoples own decision to put up the symbol and other people should not get offended because it peoples personal decision. And really isn't that big of a deal. No one needs to get mad at someone elses view and the way they express them.

Health Care
The Health Care bill is currently being debated in the Senate. The Senate is actually working to get this done, they well be working overtime by staying in session this Saturday in order to try and get something worked out before the Christmas and New Years holliday that is closing in fast. Hopefully they will meet their deadline and we will see the rough bill done before the new year.

Cartoon #1
The cartoon I chose shows President Obama as a turkey with a bubble saying "he wants me to take a bow" also in the picture was a Chinese man dressed up like a pilgram with an axe behind is back that says "U.S. Debt". This cartoons is talking about the huge debt that the U.S. currently owe China and how if we don't start playing it off we may end up having a problem. China is currently supplying us with money which in turn increases our debt to them. It could be life changing depending how this situation turns out

Thoughts on the new Principal
I think that a new principal at Herndon High will be a change from the old principals and the current fill in principal Mr. Cooper. I hope the principal has the same type of mind set as Mr. Cooper, i think he's been so invovled in everything the short time he's been at Herndon. The new principal should have this quality as well as being invovled with the sports programs and the school side of everything too. He needs to be expirenced in the field as well and know how to get the job done well.

Current Event #6
This story from CNN.com is about two men that were shot at a synagogue at 9:20 am. A man in a hooded sweatshirt walked into a parking garage and shot one victim then turned and shot the second victim after he fled on foot. Both men were taken to seperate hospitals and are currently in sable conditions. The California police have arrested a man that "loosely fits the discription" but the investigation will continue. The tapes from the synagogue will be reviewed for more leads. Police have stationed officers at local schools and religious places in the mean time.

My Choice
This story i read on CNN.com has to do with a suspected terrorist passport being found in a Pakistani village, by a military the was fighting with the Taliban. The terrorists name is Said Bahaji, he is suspected to be one of the many people invovled in the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States. He is said to be part of the terrorist group working out the the Humburt, Germany cell, it is said that he donated money into the attacks on the US. Bahaji is wanted in the United States as well as Germany and Spain on terrorism charges.
This story shows that there are still many people out there from the terrorist attacks on us, and some how they are staying one step ahead of the World. These men need to be caught and brought to justice.

Current Event #5
This story that I read on CNN.com, says that Obama has declared the H1N1 "swine flu" virus is now a national emergency. By doing this Obama allows Health and Human Services to put plans in place to help with this pandemic. This well help the H1N1 virus be helped right as it is being seen in all people, and should also help keep it from spreading so fast.
This is a good move by Obama, something needed to be done to try and slow this pandemic down, now with Medicare and Medicaid getting invovled maybe we'll be able to keep this to a minumum.

Virginia Governors Race
The Virginia Governors Race is very close as we continue to get closer to the election. As of right now Republican Bob McDonnell has a slight lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds. The main debates have been over transportation, raise taxes, and many different soical issues that are going on in virginia currently. Both candidates have talked about raising teacher salaries. They would also like to increase spending on education. This is a very close race at this point in time it may be to close to call, but I think that Bob McDonnell will pull it out in the end.

Current Event #4
This story that i read on CNN.com has to do with the problem of rape that has been going on in the Democratic Repblic of Congo. The number of attacks on women have increase threefold in the past few years, making it dangerous for all women in the Republic of Congo. According to a Senior reseacher in the feild of Human Rights, over 200,000 women have been raped since 1998. It is said that Congo has witnessed one of the worst humanitarian crises since WWII, they have had a death toll of about 5 million in the past few years beacuse of all the disease and starvation. There has been talks about justice needing to be brought throughout the Republic of Congo to stop these violent acts that have been occuring.
I agree with what is being said in this article this needs to have an end put to it.

Biggest Political Issue facing the State of Virginia
The issue that i read about on washingtonpost.com was about the problems with Virginia public transportation. In this article they say that Virginia has not rasied taxes for public transportation since Ronald Regean was the President in office. Which makes us have one of the nations lowest gas taxes and one of the most deteriorationg road system. It has been said that in the next Govenors race that the Democratic representative will not raise taxes but Republican rep. Deeds said he would sign a bill to increase taxes in this issue. It also says that currently because of the recession that most Virginians do not want to raise taxes because that would involve them spending more money.

Current Event #3
On Sunday the Iraqi police closed all entrances into Ramadi which is 62 miles outside of Baghdad and put a curfew in effect after a series of car bombings killed at least 19 people and injured about 80 more. Authorities believe the attacks were carried out by al Qaeda and a Sunni militant group. Two of the car bombs detonated within 10 minutes of each other at Ramadi’s police headquarters, killing at least 8 police officers. Less than an hour later, a third car bomb, driven by a suicide attacker, detonated outside a hospital.
This story shows that many people still don't want us to be in Iraq, it also shows how dangerous it continues to be over there.

Grading Obama
So far I would give President Obama a 'B' on all the issues that he's had to deal with. In the health care fight Obama has already signed a bill for that provides health care for 11 million children. Other parts of the plan include, insurance companies can not deine you coverage for a pre-existing conditions, and coverage can not be dropped when you get sick. In the Economic situation Obama has signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act also he announced the details to his Financial Stability Plan. Signed Helping Families save their Homes Act, to keep families in their homes. In the war on terror Obama has renewed talks with NATO, Obama also plans to work and strengthen our alliences and partnerships around the world.

Current Event #2
According to this story i read on CNN.com the former Japanese finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa, was found dead in his home Sunday in Tokyo, Japan. Shoichi Nakagawa was the finance minister of Japan until he resigned in February, after he appeared to be drunk at the G7 news conference in Rome, Italy. Nakagawa later apologized for appearing to be drunk at this conference but did not say it was from heavy drinking, he said that he did have a few drinks between his flight to Rome and at the G7 luncheon he attended. He says he appeared out of it because he had taken too much cold medicine. Currently his cause of death is not known and there was no will was found.

Political issue i'm interested in...
A political issue that interests me is all about what is currently going on in Iran with all the talk about the nuclear weapons and powerplants that they have developed. In this story that i read on CNN.com it is said that the United States plans on going to Iran to inspect the nuclear powerplant on October 25. Iran shocked the world when Tehran wrote a letter to the IAEA saying that their is a nuclear enrichment facility near the city of Qom. The Islamic republic says that the nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only. But the rest of the world doesn't by this and they believe that it can be used to build nuclear weapons. Iran was urged to submit to further investigation to insure that this facility isn't being used to make nuclear weapons.

Current Event #1
This story i read on CNN.com had to do with a 24 year old man who was arrested in Colorado for being a suspected terrorist and he was charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction. The man Najibullah Zazi was first arrested after he lied to FBI informants about international and domestic terrorism. Along with Najibullah Zazi, his father and another muslim man where arrested with a plot to explode bombs somewhere in the United States. Zazi was release on a 1.5 million dollar bail to his parents house in Queens, NY. According to the US justice department Zazi received bomb-making instructions in Pakistan and bought parts to improvise as explosive devices. He recived the same bomb making materials as the bombs used in the 2005 London trian bombings.
This story is very serious and can tell us that we still have many terrorist in our country. Now we can see that your country is not completely safe and we don't know where more terrorist could be hiding and planning another attack.

Political Parties
I would have to consider myself more of a Republican, one of the reasons i say this is because my father is a Republican and he expresses his views towards me. And i feel that the way the Republican party does there business is the way i would conduct my business. I seem to find myself agreeing with the views and points that they bring up and argue about.
